Heber Petroro is a bilingual board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP). Prior to obtaining his family nurse practitioner from Hofstra University in New York. He earned his bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing from California State University, Northridge. 

He also worked as an emergency department registered nurse in Long Beach, California and in Riverhead, New York. He is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). He has an interest in providing care for vulnerable populations. Patient care has been his passion because he believes that by decreasing health disparities, we will have healthier people resulting in not only happier individuals, but also happier communities.


Questions & Answers

What inspired you to become a physician?

I always believed that as a healthcare provider I could make a difference in the lives of people, but I also believed that as a nurse practitioner I could make a much more impactful, and positive difference in the lives of people in my community where there are still many that experience many health problems and poor access to healthcare.

What is your philosophy on patient care?

Providing respectful healthcare that promotes autonomy, knowledge gain, and empowerment with the objective of reducing health disparities so that people and communities are healthier and happier.

What brought you to St. Hope?

I joined St. Hope because I believe in its mission, core values and also because I am inspired by what St. Hope is doing in the community, and I want to contribute to this amazing work.
