Jayne Oliver is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner qualified to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication for children, adolescents and adults. She began her nursing career in 1986, after graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in registered nursing.

She returned to school in 2007 to earn a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science, focusing on Occupational Health and Safety. Her work as an RN has been in several nursing specialties. She again returned to school at the University of San Antonio to pursue her interest in psychiatry. She completed her studies in 2011 with a master’s level degree as a Family Psychiatric Mental Nurse Practitioner.

What is your philosophy on patient care?

I use the humanistic care model, collaboratively developing treatment plans with my clients; plans that encompass biological, psychological and social contributors that impact their health. I listen to my clients and treat them with kindness and respect. I want my clients to express themselves, their illness, and the impact it has on their lives. I believe in my patients and their sincere desire to be well. Over the years I have used my knowledge and prescriptive powers to diagnose and treat Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Autism.”


What brought you to St. Hope?

“I have always believed in community health. After reading St. Hope Foundation’s vision statement, I knew my values aligned with theirs.
