BOTOX

St. Hope Healthcare is proud to offer Botox treatments for our patients to help prevent or diminish the effects of time on our skin.

Every facial movement from smiling to squinting can create wrinkles over time. A number of factors can affect the depth of those wrinkles, including genetic predisposition, unhealthy habits , and environmental influences.

What is Botox?

Botox is a non-surgical, injectable therapy used by our providers to help with a variety of different ailments, but primarily is used to diminish or prevent the appearance of patients' facial lines and wrinkles.

Botox is a neuromodulator that "modifies" the movements of your facial muscles. Overtime, the areas treated with injections gradually relax; allowing the skin overlying those relaxed muscles to appear smoother.

Am I a candidate for Botox?

A consultation with one of our providers can help you determine whether beginning Botox treatments is the right move for you. With that said, most of our patients can begin injections in their late 20s and early 30s. At that time, the early signs of aging have just begun to appear. In order to be considered an ideal candidate, you should be over 18 years of age and want to address signs of facial aging.

Botox Injections

Prior to your injections, you will have a consultation with your provider where they will complete a evaluation and determine a proper treatment plan for you. On the day of your treatment appointment they will discuss your plan, have you then sit in a treatment chair and ask you to contract your facial muscles so that he can determine where to place the Botox. From there, they will mark the treatment site before numbing the area with cold compresses.

Your injections should only take around ten minutes to complete. Our skilled providers will make sure there will be minimal discomfort associated with the procedure. After your injections are complete and a few minutes of observation have gone by, you will then be able to resume the rest of your day.

Your treated wrinkles should be visibly improved within a few days, and your results will continue to progress over the next month or so. Depending on your body chemistry, your results can last up to 3-4 months.

Consultation

During your consultation, there will be an evaluation of facial line areas and a discussion about possible treatment and expectations you may have. Your treatment program will be based on your health history, activities, and if you have had previous surgery or cosmetic treatment in any of the target areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BOTOX safe?

Yes! Botox is safe and has been an effective treatment option for many years. However, it can react negatively with certain antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications and other prescriptions, so it's important to inform your provider of all prescribed and over-the-counter medications you're taking. Pregnant women and nursing mothers should avoid Botox because it has not been proven safe to a developing fetus or nursing baby.

How long does BOTOX last?

You will see the results of Botox for about 3-4 months, but this varies by person and location of the injections.

Will my face appear more frozen or natural?

Most patients are afraid of emerging from their Botox injections with a "frozen" appearance; however, when you choose to receive Botox treatments here at SHH, our skilled providers are trained in the conservative approach. This guarantees that you have a naturally youthful appearance. In addition, our providers will make sure you're able to continue moving your face and expressing your emotions with ease.

What are the potential side effects of botox?

BOTOX  injections result in very few, if any, complications. However, when side effects do occur, they tend to appear as mild numbness or tingling, minor swelling or bruising, a temporary headache, temporary nausea, a drooping eyelid or eyebrow, flu-like symptoms or an allergic reaction. Our Provider here at SHH go to great lengths to avoid these side effects by using a proper injection technique. However, you can further reduce your risk by not rubbing the treatment area for about twelve hours after your injections.
