Dr. Lorraine E. McKinney has been serving the foot care needs of patients for over nineteen years. A native of Houston, Dr. McKinney earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

What inspired you to become a podiatrist?
When asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I answered, “A doctor”. I wanted to be a doctor since age 12. However, it was learning more about my father’s history of diabetes which was my inspiration to pursue a career as a podiatrist who specializes in diabetic foot care. In college I was introduced to the specialty of Podiatric Medicine and learned that podiatrists save feet and save lives. That inspired me.
What is your philosophy on patient care?
I focus my patient care philosophy on the idea that we are a health care team and that the patient is a member of that team. All team members have tasks, and we as care providers are here to help guide the team captain (patient) along the right path in their health journey.
What brought you to St. Hope?
I was searching for an opportunity to join a multi-specialty health care organization. Through the innovative vision of Mr. Rodney Goodie, I was granted the opportunity to continue to serve our community through St. Hope Healthcare. Podiatric Medicine at St Hope has grown from a part-time, half-day service at one clinic location to now serving at four soon to be five clinic locations throughout the Greater Houston area.
