Studies find that 80% of people who make New Year’s resolutions do not follow through with their goals. Try these tips below so you don’t become a statistic!
- Stack the Odds in your Favor – If one of your goals is to eat out less, then you have to make sure you have food in your home. Plan your meals and snacks for the week and then plan a day each week when you will go grocery shopping.
- Get your Rest – Sleeping 7-9 hours a night will give your body the energy for the next day and help keep your hormones in balance to make better food choices.
- Control your Surroundings – The holidays are over, so put away the candy jars and nut bowls and instead put out bowls of fruit or vegetables. Take inventory of the people around you as well. Surround yourself with people who support you in your wellness efforts.
- Reward Yourself – Keep New Year’s resolutions is not easy, so give yourself mini goals each week. When those mini goals are accomplished treat yourself to a non-food reward such as getting your nails done, buying a new app for your phone or buying a new book/magazine. Make sure the rewards are motivating to you!
