National Guacamole Day – September 16th
What a great day to celebrate such an amazing green food! National Guacamole Day is a day devoted to praising the nutritional benefits of avocados, the main ingredient in guacamole. Avocados are rich in folate, fiber, antioxidants and potassium. In fact, an ounce of avocado actually has more potassium than an ounce of bananas. Avocados are known for their high levels of heart healthy monounsaturated fats that help reduce the bad LDL cholesterol. Do not fear fat from avocados, instead use it! Eating heart healthy fat in a person’s diet has shown to help keep them feel satisfied longer and may help with weight loss.
