Trying to lose weight? Eat Breakfast!

Summer is a great time to drop unhealthy eating habits and start getting back on track. When Americans think of losing weight and cutting calories, breakfast is usually the first meal to go. Wait! Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day and can help boost your metabolism by starting to consume calories at the beginning of your day. Research shows that non-breakfast eaters will actually eat MORE calories during the day than breakfast eaters. These extra calories usually sneak in during late night snacking. Breakfast should include whole grains, fruit and protein.

Here are some easy quick breakfast ideas that will satisfy and energize you for the day ahead:

  • Whole wheat English muffin topped with almond butter and a banana
  • Cottage cheese mixed with berries and high fiber cereal
  • Oatmeal mixed with berries and a side of hardboiled or scrambled eggs
